Although I trained as a zoologist, I am now a Melbourne based illustrator, mural artist, author, science educator, and theatre designer, director and choreographer. You'll see that a lot of my art and many of my stories still have a zoological bent, however, and that I'm pretty keen on dinosaurs! My latest book as an author/illustrator, The Perfect Leaf, is now out. And yes, like The Poppy, I am well aware of the irony of two of my books having botanical names, given my surname. It wasn't deliberate, I promise! But books with those sort of names do seem to keep on getting picked up by publishers ...

I live in an old Victorian house with my wife Bronwyn, and my eleven-year-old daughter Tessa. Poor old Oscar, our deaf but adorable Westie terrier, had to leave us, but at nearly 17 human years old, he had a pretty good trot. Since a house is not a home without a dog, we've now got a puppy causing mayhem around the place. Her name is Scout, and she's a sheepadoodle. No, I'm not making that up. Go Google it.
